Some film instructors and you tube channels devoted to acting love Robin Williams as an actor.  Of course, his having conquered comedic acting is never debatable.  But I watched 'One Hour Photo' this evening, and I got. truly inspired.

Robin Williams plays a devoted and yet alone master of one hour photo-making at a suburban save mart.  He is drawn to a woman and her son as people he would love to be family with.  He's not sure about her husband, who is played by French actor Michel Vartan. The wife is played by Danish actress Connie Nielsen of Gladiator fame.

The main reason why I like Robin's acting in this one is because he is not hiding behind a gross and ultra-hairy beard.  We can see his slimey lips which give a horror vibe in and of themselves, haha.

This film was made in 2002 which was a turning point in cinema.  The 2000's were a creepy time in American history, and many of us, myself included, ignored what was happening politically.  It was a time of transition; the same year that Joe Strummer died was the same year all-out shittiness was dumped on Iraq and the rest of the Arab world.

Why is it that men are usually  the ones to berate their feminine partners for not seeing how 'hard' they work, especially how hard they work to get a hard on.  It's much easier to have sex with a woman who doesn't care about other women, and who is fine to drive her sportscar to the hotel to have afternoon delight.  Robin's character is devoted to Connie Nielsen's character and her adorable son.  The husband and father is a total shit.

I highly recommend 'One Hour Photo' because we have every right to miss talented actors like Robin Williams, actors who grow over the years instead of demanding to be icons.

THE DINER

OK, so maybe you know that I have been making some short films that have been in film festivals, and I haven not explored many of the genres.  I want to make a short horror film a short dark comedy, a horror film that is a part of the new genre.

This 'horror' film, The Diner, is really beautiful for a horror film. The colors, the camera angles and the smudginess are inspiring to me.

Horror is not only a style of film in appearance, but a world of acting that is special in and of itself.  If the acting is weak, the horror is less scary.  But then again, bad acting is. horrific in and of itself!!

Since I have been making shorts under 30 mins long, I want to do something different,  I watched two shorts by a Canadian director:  The Door and 10-33.  The acting in "The Door' was weak, but the end helped it alot.  In the '10-33' the acting was quite good, and I was pleasantly surprised.
